Contra Dance a unique welcoming, playful, high energy, easy to learn, non-competitive, couples new world dance form. You don't need to bring a partner. No experience is needed. Each dance is taught briefly and their is a crash course lesson about 1/2 hour before the dance to get non-dancers up to speed. Live music i core to why this dance form is so easy and so much fun... Tonight's band will offer a particularly hot mix of Celtic, swing, classical, old-time acoustic music . Contra dance will give you the foundations of social dancing (ballroom, Salsa, etc.) with out the learning curve. Show up, grab a partner and join in when the music stops. All dance venues substance free. Ability to laugh at oneself useful. Even folks who have danced for decades get to laughing so hard they end up going the wrong way... Soft soled clean shoes to protect the venues vintage suspended wood floors. Dancers range from early teens to long past retirement. Families with young children please see the little ones are supervised at all times... the dancing is fast and entrancing so children need to stay clear off the dance floor. $7- $5 for students... Prepare to sweat and bring water... modest refreshments normally on hand...
