Karen Rontowski

Where: Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase

Date: 2007-05-10 20:00:00

Type:

When it comes to funny, Karen is truly America's sweetheart of comedy. She has been tapped as being the next female star in the comedy world. We agree but would put it in far stronger language. Language like, “the makings of a superstar comedian” or “destined for popularity like no other female comedian in the world.” Her distinctive brand of humor has been making audiences laugh all across the country. She brings to light life's everyday problems, such as visits to the Laundromat or the trouble with having an alligator in your apartment (!?!), and all with a polished stage presence that makes you feel like you’ve known her for years. Karen has opened for such show biz legends as Bob Hope, Ray Charles and The Monkees. She is a regular on the number one radio show in the country, “The Bob and Tom Show” and can be seen on Comedy Centrals “Live at Gotham”. She just recently made her acting debut playing the lead role of Sue Burrow in the upcoming movie short, "Return To Sender" and has been featured in the book "Women's Lip" edited by Roz Warren and Moxxie Greeting Cards. You've also seen her on "Bob Hope's Young Comedians Special" as well as HBO, and other cable comedy specials. Don't miss another rising star at the Comedy Showcase!

John Heffron*Special Engagement*

Where: Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase

Date: 2008-05-09 20:00:00

Type:

Winner of NBC's hit reality series "Last Comic Standing," comedian John Heffron has become the comic to watch and love. The Detroit funnyman, who Phyllis Diller referred to as "the cute one," has won a talent contract with NBC as well as other great opportunities. When asked about his experience on the show, John said "It's a lot like high school… there are good and bad memories, in the end, I think I will only remember the good ones." The recently married 35-year-old comic is already seeing the payoffs. He has been traveling and touring for more than 2 years, performing in comedy clubs, colleges and theatres across the country. John grew up in nearby South Lyon and started his comedy career as a student at Eastern Michigan University, skipping night classes to perform stand-up comedy. He got his first gig as an emcee right here at the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase. Since then he’s invented a card game (The That Guy Game) been seen on all the late night talk shows, cut a deal for his own TV show, and more than I could ever list here on this page. SHOWTIMES: 8:00 & 10:30pm TICKETS: $21 in advance, $23 at the door Sorry, Due to contractual obligations we cannot accept any passes or discounts for this show.
