New England Ballet Company will bring Clara’s dream brought to life in a large cast production of Nutcracker with exquisite costumes and dazzling choreography under the artistic direction of Kenneth Hopkins and Karen Goodman. New England Ballet Company is a not for profit organization that exists to promote arts education and to serve the community by giving performing opportunities to dancers of all ages and levels, children through adult. This lecture will focus on the 29th, 30th and 31st Black regiments of Connecticut. Mustered in 1864, these two local companies from the 29th were the first infantry at the end of the war to enter Richmond, the confederate capital, and stand in the presence of Abraham Lincoln.
