Saturday, January 12, 2008 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM A little red truck pulls into town with everything it takes to mount a full-scale musical production...except the cast. That's where the children of the Fox Valley come in. On Monday, they're cast as characters. By Saturday, they've gained character - the kind that really counts. Missoula Children's Theatre provides a week-long residency "starring" 50-60 local students in a full-scale musical. MCT has been touring now for more than 30 years, visiting nearly 1100 communities annually in all 50 states, 4 Canadian Provinces and overseas. Their mission is the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique and educational project. The team of two professional Tour Actor/Directors arrives in town with scenery, costumes, props, make-up and basic lighting... everything it takes to put on a play - except, the cast. This week-long residency begins with an open group audition and culminates in two public performances. Fifty to sixty students grades K-12, or a combination of these ages, are cast and well rehearsed throughout the week, learning lines, songs and choreography to perform as an ensemble in producing a full-length musical. All of MCT’s shows are original adaptations of children's stories and fairytales... a twist on the classic stories that we know and love. Tickets: $10-$13 -- $6 Youth (12 & Under) all seats

Disney's animated classic. Shows at 2:00 and 7:00 PM. Broadway on a Budget was created in response to a strong audience request for more “Broadway shows” at the Grand. Of course, touring Broadway theatre is both too expensive and too elaborated to be successfully presented in our intimate theater. Our solution? A series of Broadway movie-musicals shown on the Grand’s big screen… in short “Broadway on a Budget.” Just like “Screen Scene” audience members are invited to stay after the movie for a brief afterglow featuring snacks and beverages. Tickets $4, children under 12 $2, includes afterglow. Rated G
