Hailing from Birmingham, England, the English Beat (known simply as the Beat in England) has been on the music scene since 1979. Members of the band, particularly Dave Wakeling, went on to successful solo work as well as to work with other groups.

One of the cornerstone bands of the '90s punk revival, Rancid's sound echoed the Clash's fascination with ska, while adding a bit of post-hardcore crunch. Over time, the band leaned more on the ska-punk side, finally shedding that mix in favor of a more hardcore presence for their self titled fifth album in 2000. Rancid's latest is 'Indestructible.' Punk band Lower Class Brats give you chainsaw guitar, pounding bass and gear-like drums with clockwork precision.

Their upcoming album release, "Cream of Mushroom Cloud Soup," has generated widespread attention in the underground music press and some major sources as well.
