Darren Doherty is a permaculture designer from Australia. Permaculture is a design method that seeks to create a “permanent agriculture” that mimics natural systems and minimizes chemical and fossil energy inputs. Learn about his experiences around the world developing permaculture and a “keyline method” of farming that enables farmers to build soil and store water. Lecture and discussion to be followed by concert by the Oberlin-based Plum Creek String Band. 5:30 networking, 6:00 lecture and discussion, and 7:30 concert. $5 suggested donation

NOTACON, an annual conference held in Cleveland, Ohio, explores and showcases technologies, philosophy and creativity often overlooked at other "hacker cons". Our desire is not to supplant other events, but complement them and strike a balance that has gone unnoticed in our community for far too long.
