Whole Wheat Bread

Where: The Middle East Downstairs

Date: 2007-09-02 13:00:00

Type:

Whole Wheat Bread is from Duval County, Jacksonville, Florida. Like their forefathers Bad Brains, WWB is doing their part to redefine punk for a whole new generation. Their sound is influenced by both punk (i.e. Rancid) and crunk (i.e. Lil Jon). Against All Authority is a politically inspired punk-ska band from Miami, Florida. They have been the textbook definition of "D.I.Y." from the band's beginning in 1993. From day one, they have put out their own records, booked their own tours, and even silk-screened all of their shirts. For those of you that don't know, this is an incredible amount of work. AAA have put out 2 full length CDs, and six 7"s, including splits with the Pist, Less Than Jake, and Anti-Flag.

Over the course of three albums, the band explores the worlds of indie folk, roots music and alt-country pop, with a focus on lyrics and the craft of songwriting. Eleni Mandell's talent ranges from sugar-sweet folk to aggressive rock. Her hypnotic vocals can draw an audience in as she sings of romantic moments, but she can also take on the rocker-chick persona and get the room moving.
