CASTING ABOUT USA, 2004, Barry J. Hershey This lyrical nonfiction film explores the experience of casting a movie. In 2000 director Barry Hershey (/The Empty Mirror/) auditioned 350 actresses for three roles in a feature he intended to make. Sometime later he realized that he had a fascinating documentary within the 70 hours of videotaped auditions, so whittled down the footage to 86 minutes that vividly convey the heart and soul of thespians driven to put themselves on the line. “A solid documentary about how art is made.” /–The NY Times. /Cleveland premiere. 35mm. 86 min.

RSVPs are not required, but attendance will likely maximize at 60-70 people. (Because of St. Patrick's Day on Monday, March 17, 2008, the monthly City Fresh Monday forum is re-scheduled for the following week -- on Monday, March 24, 2008.) Topic: Adaptive Re-Use of Old Urban Buildings for Local Food - featuring presentations from students of Cleveland State University's Levin School of Urban Affairs who are looking at plans for adapting potential buildings in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood. Forum Ideas: Would you like to host or facilitate a forum? Is there a topic that you would like to suggest? Please contact Brad Masi with ideas!
