WAKE UP! Wake Up! and Sonotheque welcome the Spectral Residency present Ryan Elliott (Spectral Sound / Ghostly International) – Detroit [Voted Top 10 DJ Worldwide in 2006 by Resident Advisor] With Residents Kate Simko + Sassmouth Visuals by Lavamatic 9pm - 2am $10 cover $3 Svedka cocktails all night RYAN ELLIOTT - Spectral Sound / Ghostly International [Detroit] Spectral Sound is excited to announce the latest installment of its 2007 residencies across North American clubs. DEATH IS NOTHING TO FEAR: Spectral Residencies Part Three will feature Ryan Elliott playing select major cities, hitting both coasts and the midwest. These bi-monthly events are designed to promote the artist compilation series of the same name, and have previously featured Spectral artists Audion and Bodycode. This time around Ryan Elliott will bring his turntable mastery to the dancefloors, enticing ears and inciting bodies like no other DJ. Elliott - a walking dictionary of artists, labels, and releases – began his DJ career with a weekly residency in Ann Arbor, MI alongside Matthew Dear, and soon after established a monthly gig at Detroit's now defunct Oslo. His increasing notoriety led to international touring, with stops at London's legendary Fabric as well as the 2006 Sónar Festival in Barcelona. Further accomplishments include a stellar 33-track mix for the Spectral Sound Vol. 1 2xCD compilation, a slot at #5 in Resident Advisor's Top 10 DJs of 2006 (placed between Sasha and M.A.N.D.Y), and a nod from URB as one of the top 10 up and coming Techno stars. In addition, Samurai.fm tapped Ryan to showcase his skills for part of their latest Make Your Move studio mix. DEATH IS NOTHING TO FEAR also refers to Spectral's various artist compilation series, featuring seductively lethal tracks from both the established roster and newcomers. The first edition is out now and contains exclusive tracks from Audion, Bodycode, and Pär Grindvik. The 12" is available at buyghostly.com, along with corresponding limited edition clothing items, and the mp3s are available for download at beatport.com. DEATH IS NOTHING TO FEAR 2 hits stores June 17 and features tracks from Ryan Elliott, Audion and Traxx. KATE SIMKO – Traum / Kupei Musika [Chicago] Expanding from a regimen of classical training into experiments in electronic music, Kate Simko has worked diligently for years to find her own uncompromising sound. With roots in Chicago house and Detroit techno, her tracks maintain a warm, soulful character while embracing deep, elaborate structures. A versatile DJ, Kate was named one of the Top 10 DJ's in Chicago by XLR8R magazine. With releases on Traum Schallplatten, Antenna International and Kupei Musika, Kate has upcoming projects on Kupei (split 12” with Jonas Bering) and Spectral Sound (Death is Nothing to Fear), among others. SASSMOUTH – NBFC [Chicago] Wake Up! resident Sassmouth was inspired to DJ in 2002. Her youth, filled with classical training on the viola and live performances as a member of string quartets and punk bands in her home region of the Eastern Washington wasteland, Spokane, prepared her musically for her new role as DJ. She has been fueling bars, lounges, house parties, and morning gatherings in Chicago with her mix of techno, house and electro ever since. LAVAMATIC[Chicago] Lavamatic (aka Jeffrey Weeter) is a composer and video artist who has worked extensively with choreographers, filmmakers, poets, playwrights and video and performance artists. Recent endeavors include the live video/music collaborations Fire and Ice, PowerPoint, Lavamatic and work with Virgil Moorefield and Mark Cartwright.
