The good reverend takes the rockabilly sound and kick starts it with an infusion of punk attitude. Melding the locomotive rhythm of traditional bluegrass with the intensity of Mississippi roadhouse blues, this band has created a unique, hybrid sound of mostly original material. The band regularly tops the lists of Nashville's alt-weekly picks and has been named one of Nashville's Best Live Shows year after year.

Tickets on sale now for: MARIANA SADOVSKA + LIDIA KAMINSKA + NICKI JAINE: November 15th @ L'Etage http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/23615 "Oddly perfect" - New York Times Returning to Philadelphia for a rare solo performance is Ukrainian singer and actress Mariana Sadovska. Mariana spent ten summers traveling through the small villages of Ukraine, where she learned the nearly forgotten ancient folk music of her ancestors from the old women she met along the way. Since then, the Fulbright scholar has embarked on a musical ethnology of these songs. In her breathtaking live performances, Mariana interprets the songs and tells the stories of these women, using only her unique voice (an open-throated style of singing from Eastern Europe) and a harmonium, a hand-pumped reed organ from India. From a New York Times review of her performance: "Sometimes a musician has such an inborn desire to communicate that her message naturally becomes universal: it doesn't matter whether she is singing soul or bel canto or folk... Some moments in the performance recalled white gospel music from Appalachia. At other times, Ms. Sadovska's delivery was as wired, forthright and sexual as a rock star's... the performance was rushed and nearly reckless but oddly perfect." Mariana is currently recording a new CD, and will be performing previously unheard material as well as songs from her CDs Borderland and Songs I Learned In Ukraine. Also performing a solo recital is Lidia Kaminska. This native of Poland is the only person in the United States with a PhD in Accordion Performance. Forget polka and think Rachmaninoff. http://www.lidiakaminska.com Finally, Philadelphia's own Nicki Jaine will play guitar, concertina, musical saw, and sing, though probably not all simultaneously. http://www.nickijaine.com MARIANA SADOVSKA + LIDIA KAMINSKA + NICKI JAINE Thursday, November 15th; TWO SHOWS: 7:30pm and 10:00pm @ L'Etage, 2nd floor of Beau Monde, 6th and Bainbridge, Philadelphia $15 tickets are available now via: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/23615 Or by calling (800) 838-3006
