Rock Climbing and Yoga

this workshop integrates the movement of rock climbing with the flow of a vinyasa yoga practice. in this workshop, participants will learn the basics of climbing safety (knots and belaying techniques) and basic techniques for moving efficiently on rock. climbing technique instruction will emphasize mindful placement of feet and hands, balance and breathing to move gracefully and efficiently. the workshop will also include a vinyasa yoga practice. the practice will include poses to open hips and shoulders and to improve balance and strength. the workshop will be conducted at the sportrock climbing gym located at 5308 eisenhower ave., alexandria, va. sportrock is conveniently located near the van dorn metro stop. registration is through tranquil space. participants should bring their own yoga mats. climbing equipment will be provided as part of the workshop. class size is limited to 10 people with a minimum of 5 required to hold the workshop. $60, $55 if you register online at www.tranquilspace.com.
