Pittsburgh's own Besame will be playing live at the Pittsburgh Folk Festival's Latin Dance Night. This is a great family friendly evening held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Bésame's lively 3-4 part vocals are backed by Jorge Delgado on guitar, Melissa Alliston on percussion, Paul Cindric on soprano sax and Roger Day on tuba. Their specialty is Latin American music, with emphasis on the sounds from Colombia. Tickets to the festival are $8 in advance, or $10 at the door. Children up to 12 are $4, and children 4 and under get in free. Come on out, the music's fine!

Jay Black started life as a high school teacher, where he racked up two local teacher-of-the-year nominations and one nomination for the prestigious Disney award for excellence in teaching. Jay always wanted to try standup, though, and it wasn't long before he took the same high energy act he used in the classroom into the night clubs. On stage, Jay still exudes the cool of every student's favorite teacher. Jay is always friendly and accessible, even when he's pointing out bits about our daily life that usually make us blush.

Join us for a dynamic and dense sonic experience with Austin-based Stars of the Lid, who have built quite a reputation since forming in the early 90’s as uniquely blending ambient and classical modes through layered strings and electronics. The subtle and minimalist approach, leaving any beats at the door, should be well accentuated by the acoustics of our intimate theater. Bay Area guitarist/composer Christopher Willits begins the evening by crafting heavily melodic textures and soundscapes. Tickets $12; Limited seating - Call 412.237.8300 or link below for tickets
