Join us at 7:00pm on Monday, August 27 for: Cartilage Injury: Does Arthritis Start In Your Teens? with Dennis Crawford, MD, PhD, OHSU Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation http://www.ohsu.edu/academic/som/orthopaedics/crawfordd.htm When does arthritis start? Is exercise good for our joints? Considerations on cartilage and ligament injury and how these common problems, resulting from sporting activity can be associated with the start of arthritis. New therapies to combat this disease will be introduced. Dr. Crawford joined OHSU in 2002 and specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder; cartilage and ligamentous injuries; instability of the knee and shoulder; and cartilage replacement and restoration. He is engaged in research investigating the safety of artificial knee cartilage and possibilities for use of cartilage transplant for knee reconstruction. When: Monday, August 27 Presentation begins at 7:00pm and will last around 1.5 to 2 hours. We've been drawing very large crowds, so be sure to come early if you want to order food and drinks! We'll keep you warm and comfy at every turn with tons of belly-nourishing treats including hot cocoa, doughnuts, fruit, spicy chai tea, veggie chili, chicken noodle soup, cornbread, bagels, hot cider and much more. Join hundreds of other hardy souls as we laugh at the elements and gather for a delicious finish line party at the Lucky Labrador. The ride is capped at 2,000 riders. Register early so you don't miss out on this ever-popular ride! The Worst Day of the Year Ride is a benefit for the Community Cycling Center.

Mixing funk influences with equal parts of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, Maryland's Clutch has created a unique, contemporary metal sound. Indiana's Murder by Death layers the vocal sounds of an old saloon with the haunting strings of an Hungarian folk dance and the hard driving rhythms of pure rock n' roll, producing what Stuff magazine has called "lush, orchestrated songs," somehow simultaneously reminiscent of Johnny Cash and Radiohead. Christian southern metal rockers Maylene and the Sons of Disaster emerged from Birmingham in 2004. They have been lauded for their blazing riffs and memorable songwriting, opening for Underoath and earning a slot on the 2007 VANS Warped Tour.
