Say Hi To Your Mom play a dreamier variety of indie rock. On a homemade PC, one-man band Eric Elbogen assembles slow, statuesque, self-consciously "indie" rock with analog synthscapes, overlapping distorted guitars, lots of low-end quavering whispers. Elbogen uses everything at his disposal to make dense pop music that's dark and sad and poppy. The Velvet Teen is a rock trio from the northern Bay Area whose songs range from the beautiful to the bittersweet, with soaring countertenor melodies, tastefully delicate harmonies and a unique sound not to be missed.
