The 10th Annual Midwest Inventor’s Conference will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Technology & Management Center located on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. This conference is hosted by the Illinois Innovators and Inventors Club, a non-profit support group for amateur inventors, and by the Southwestern Illinois Entrepreneurship Center. This annual conference is designed specifically for the first-time inventor and will include many topics to guide them through the initial process of evaluating and protecting their invention. Carol Giles Straight from the St. Louis Depository Patent Library will describe the many services available at no cost to inventors in St. Louis and Springfield, Illinois. John Calvert, a senior staff member of the U.S. Patent Office will discuss the operations of that office and how they work with the independent inventor. A patent attorney will talk about licensing agreements and what to look for in the licensing process. Dr. Kevin Hubbard, SIUE School of Engineering will talk about the new developments in computer controlled prototyping. Other topics that will be discussed throughout the day will assist the new inventor in his/her development of the “million dollar idea”. Tables will be available for inventors to exhibit their products. Cost for a table is $25.00 for non-members. Cost to attend the conference is $40 for advance registration or $45 at the door. Both prices include a continental breakfast and box lunch. For more information on the conference, visit http://ilinventor.tripod.com . To register online, visit www.siueschoolofbusiness.com/ec
