They began creating boy/girl melodrama pop inspired by 70s New York punk and 60s girl groups but created in an Auckland scene of opiate-infused garage rock 'n' roll. You may have seen or heard about The Brunettes opening for The Shins on their Spring 2005 U.S. tour. That's a pretty high-profile gig for these playful New Zealand popsters.
