$12 advance - $14 door Mark Olson was a founding member of The Jayhawks, the most acclaimed band to emerge out of the alt-country scene. He left the Jayhawks in 1996, after the release of the band’s biggest-selling album, Tomorrow The Green Grass, but continued to record music with his new band, The Creekdippers, at his new home in the California desert. Mark recently finished recording his first true solo album, The Salvation Blues, with producer Ben Vaughn. A deeply personal album, Mark’s voice and poetic lyrics are complemented by Vaughn’s gorgeous musical backdrops featuring the work of some of LA’s best studio musicians. The album also features the long-awaited reunion with his former Jayhawks bandmate and writing partner, Gary Louris, on three songs. He is touring nationally in support of the album--we are lucky he's coming through Madison, and this should be a night to remember. Cory Chisel and Adriel Harris of Appleton-based band The Wandering Sons open the show.

9:30 PM / cover TBD / 21 and up Milwaukee's snottiest punk band, Couch Flambeau, has been around for awhile but don't play out too often any more. Come check 'em out--it's a rare opportunity. Here's what some folks have said: "Milwaukee's finest punk noisemakers, Flambeau are funny like a ten-year-old guitar hero shoving an M-80 up Jack Black's butt." -Charles Aaron (SPIN Music Editor) "Great band. Ride the rock/funny dividing line like it doesn't exist...I can listen to Couch Flambeau with a shit-eating grin on my face longer than probably any other band." --(Steve Albini) Also playing is Testa Rosa, who combine quality songwriting and rich vocal harmonies with a bit of sonic exploration for a beautiful effect. "for anybody looking for a throwback to a time when songwriting mattered...Testa Rosa will send you back there." --Petere Lindblad (Goldmine Magazine)
