Jersey Boys

Where: Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center

Date: 2008-02-13 19:30:00

Type:

In the early '60s just before The Beatles' invasion, four blue-collar guys from New Jersey turned street-corner harmonies and a fragile falsetto into millions of best-selling records. Winner of four Tony Awards, Jersey Boys is the untold story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The hit Broadway show, still playing to sold-out houses in NYC, and fresh from record-breaking runs in San Francisco, LA and Chicago, now comes to Tampa in an exclusive Florida engagement. You remember the songs – "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Dawn (Go Away)," "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" – but now experience all the group's drama offstage along with the infectious excitement of note for note in-show concerts of The Four Seasons' greatest hits. Green Lemon

Where: Skipper's Smokehouse

Date: 2007-09-04 20:00:00

Type:

The band known as Green Lemon was forged and tempered to excellence in the tin shacks and back alley bars of Oklahoma City in 1999. After meeting in High School, they quickly developed a following around Oklahoma, playing outdoor parties amid tornadoes that threatened to end their musical ambitions. Their diverse backgrounds, from Reggae, blues and classical music gradually morphed into something unique and disturbingly energetic to some. In 2001 they moved on to Fort Collins, Colorado to spread their reputation, not just as a band, but as a party incarnate. Their music is a chameleon-like exploration of musical history performed on the edge of the moment. Their songs express a deep appreciation of musical traditions, as well as an appreciation for blowing said musical traditions out of the water with their deranged mid-western minds.

Def Leppard

Where: Ford Amphitheatre at Florida State Fairgrounds

Date: 2007-08-24 19:00:00

Type:

The music of Def Leppard is a mixture of hard rock, glam rock and heavy metal elements. The band has occasionally been associated with the hair metal movement of the 1980s, although its sound is more accurately associated with the contemporary New Wave of British Heavy Metal genre of the 1970s. It is understood that the band consider themselves a rock band rather than a metal band. The band's songs generally feature simple guitar hooks and catchy, melodic choruses. The Def Leppard sound is also characterized by its combination of hard rock and polished melodic backing vocals.
