Harriet Applegate, the executive director of the North Shore Federation of Labor will sit down and discuss her new role . Although the title is new, she has been a union member for twenty years. Most recently, she worked for AFL-CIO President John Sweeney. She has a passion for educating rank-and-file members on 'common sense economics' and the true cost of 'free trade' . She brings a strong set of skills to the position. Some of the topics we will discuss will most likely hinge on the changing role of labor and unions in the 21st economy, Ms. Applegate's views and vision of labor in Northeast Ohio, and how did her journey bring her here and where does she think her path may lead her next. Given the recent headlines in Cleveland, our conversation has all the earmarks of being one more interesting cup of coffee around the table at Gypsy Beans.
