The Chariot, Misery Signals, I Hate Sally, Die Rote Kapelle (All Ages) Bridgeport Entertainment Presents The Chariot http://www.thechariot.com The Chariot are no longer the new kids on the block. What began, in the minds of most of the hardcore and metal underground, as the highly buzzed about reemergence of original Norma Jean singer Josh Scogin has since become a behemoth of its own distinction. Two years of touring behind the raw, unhinged and powerful bombast off Everything is Alive, Everything is Breathing, Nothing is Dead, Nothing is Bleeding and the follow-up EP, Unsung, have cemented the Southern quartets place in the modern metal landscape. The Chariot continues to defines themselves by steering clear or easy categorization and by doing things their way like when they recorded their debut live in the studio, going against the grain of todays increasingly polished metalcore records. "I have always loved old recordings, like Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis, because you hear many of the imperfections and that has always felt a little more real to me. So I was pretty persistent on recording in that same vein, even though it was not looked at as a wise decision, if you are in to making music to make money. I don't make music to make money so I did not care." Misery Signals I Hate Sally Die Rote KapelleEvent submitted by Eventful.com on behalf of indietickets.

Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist and lyricist Andrew Bird picked up his first violin at the age of 4. Actually, it was a Cracker Jack box with a ruler taped to it, and the first of his many Suzuki music lessons involved simply bowing to the teacher and going home. He spent his formative years soaking up classical repertoire completely by ear so when it came time for a restless teen-ager to make the jump to Hungarian Gypsy music, early jazz, country blues, south Indian etc., it wasn't such a giant leap. It's fitting that now, though classically trained, he has instead opted to play his violin in a most unconventional manner, accompanying himself on glockenspiel and guitar, adding singing and whistling to the equation, and becoming a pop songwriter in the process. Since beginning his recording career, Andrew has released nine albums: six studio albums, both solo and with his former group the Bowl of Fire, and three live albums. The recently released Armchair Apocrypha will bring the tally to ten. Armchair Apocrypha, released March 20 on Fat Possum, was recorded mainly in Minneapolis at Crazy Beast Studios (Ben Durrant) and Third Ear Studios (Tom Herbers). ALL AGES

Alternative rock legends and Grammy winners They Might Be Giants return to the stage with their five piece band to celebrate the release of their new album "The Else" produced by the Dust Brothers and Pat Dillett. Formed as a duo in 1982, They Might Be Giants has had a singular career. Their Dial-A-Song service predated much of today's DIY internet activity. The band enjoyed an amazing run of breakthrough videos on MTV in the late 80s and early 90s. Their album "Flood" went platinum. The band expanded to a more tradiional line-up, and developed a reputation as a "must see" live show. In the late 90s the band began expanding their horizons into television, movies, and the internet, notably contributing the opening theme to "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and the Grammy winning song "Boss of Me" for "Malcom in the Middle."
