The next KERNSPIRACY event is our 2nd Annual Portfolio Review Night, cosponsored by Aquent and hosted by Machine Project. Time to bust out your book or your laptop and score insightful feedback from some very cool and generous people like Stefan G. Bucher (344 Design), Pietsie Campbell (House of Blues/Live Nation), Michael Coleman (Girl/Fourstar) and others. Be sure to RSVP to rsvp {at} kernspiracy {dot} com to be assigned a review slot. Walk-ins are welcome, but we can't guarantee you a review without an RSVP. Even if you're not getting reviewed, I hope you can come out to mingle, say hello and mooch some free drinks. KERNSPIRACY is a community-building and peer support project for designers and creative professionals. Los Angeles is a tough place to be a designer, and it's often easy to feel like you're out there all on your own. KERNSPIRACY is intended to address this issue by creating a forum for people to ask for advice, feedback and support from their creative peers. KERNSPIRACY hosts bi-monthly get togethers where designers and other creatives can come out to meet one another as well as trade ideas and critiques. If you're a designer, please come and bring a question, a design you'd like some feedback on or just a business card. If you know a designer, please invite them to do the same. At the very least, we can all have drinks together and complain about Quark. In addition, KERNSPIRACY manages a corresponding e-mail discussion list to allow folks to interact between events, and to facilitate faster response times for more pressing concerns. More info is available at http://kernspiracy.com. You can also subscribe by sending an e-mail to kernspiracy-request {at} tokyofarm {dot} com with "subscribe" (no quotes) in the subject or body.

THIS SHOW IS SOLD OUT! - Klaxons hail from Iceland, home of Bjork and Sigur Ros among other bands. In thrall to all that is brightest and best, highest and indeed lowest and most primal in British youth culture, Klaxons see no distinction between celebrating their love of the madness and melodies, the ecstasy and euphoria of early 90s hardcore rave with making some of the brightest, sharpest guitar music around today. The band describe their sound as Josef K-meets-Baby D with a twinkle in their eye, surely the first to mention those names in the same sentence.
