Florida Creatives reaches a milestone in May - we turn the corner our first 6 months as a community. From the first Happy Hour at Dexter's with 8 passionate individuals to events nearing 50 strong, this group can only become greater in the next 6 months. A huge inspiration for FL Creatives was the Fringe Festival - seeing a community so strong after 16 years of existence, and how they come together in a frenzy for one week every year. FL Creatives will have a table and tent set up in Loch Haven Park by the Fringe Beer Tent all week, but Third Monday happens during the Fringe Festival, so we are having a special outdoor Happy Hour this month. Coordinator Ryan Price is also putting together a podcast with members of Florida Creatives. Bring a stack of business cards and your listening ears. The eventual goal of this group is to hold a state-wide annual unConference where the community gets together to learn from each other, though the Happy Hour is not a recruitment event for people to work on the conference. This event exists simply for us to get together and be social.

San Diego's Louis XIV formed with much of the lineup as the rootsy, alt-rocking band Convoy, which issued an album called 'Black Licorice' in 2001. Vocalist/guitarists Jason Hill and Brian Karscig and drummer Mark Maigaard hooked up with bassist Jimmy Armbrust and began fleshing out Louis XIV, whose sound is built on irreverent, oversexed lyrics and songwriting that channels glam, scratchy punk and vintage Rolling Stones.

The first album came out in 2002, prompting DigitalMetal.com to hail the group as "one of the premier melodic death metal acts this side of the Atlantic." Five Finger Death Punch is a fast technical riffage contrasted by arena ready epic pieces that invoke the spirit of the glory days of metal. This Cleveland, OH-based hardcore sextet (pronounced kim-ear-uh) plays a mixture of hardcore, metal, and electronics.

We will be attending a show as a group - watch this space for updates about which show, what time and costs. You can buy your tickets and see show schedules at www.OrlandoFringe.org This will be Florida Creatives' 18th consecutive third Monday event. It's fantastic to see the community coming together and making things happen, and Florida Creatives will be here to support Orlando and other parts of the state as we grow. Jay Nash is a Los Angeles based inspired singer songwriter. Nash's music recalls a Los Angeles thought to be long since extinct, a romantic dream land where inspiration flowed from one artist to another with songs about late nights, friends and lovers, songs which grew organically and were created spontaneously. He's a throwback for sure, smart with a hook, and brave enough to bare the fragile truth in a song.
