Shonen Knife formed in 1981 in Osaka, Japan, when founding members Naoko Yamano, Atsuko Yamano and fellow office clerk Michie Nakatani decided they needed a distraction from desk life. They spent the next decade building a fervent international following, eventually taking to the road with Nirvana in 1991 and subsequently signing with Capitol Records. After a few major label releases, the girls moved back to the indie world and issued a steady stream of recordings from the late !90s into the new century. The group returns to the US with a new album 'Candy Rock,' which is already out in Japan.

Colin Meloy is the lead singer of The Decemberists. Meloy is a first rate songwriter with a strange tenor voice and and a first rate acoustic guitarist - switching off between a 12 and 6-string throughout. Along with songs from his own band's repertoire, Meloy will sneak in some other material, including covers of some Morrissey songs, which Colin released as a tour-only EP earlier in 2005.
