Over the course of among the most enviable careers in all of music, Marcus ascended into a two-timeGrammy-winner and the composer/producer of eight critically acclaimed and genre-defying albums (sixstudio and two live) as a leader, featuring his astounding and singular technique as among the world'smost gifted, forward-thinking and eclectic electric bassists. As a multi-instrumentalist, Marcus is highly proficient as a keyboardist, clarinetist/bass clarinetist and, primarily, as a world-renowned electric bassist, topping critics' and readers' polls for three decades. Hisresumé is brimming with over 500 recording credits as a sideman on albums across the spectrum of musical styles: rock (Donald Fagen and Eric Clapton), Jazz (George Benson, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Sample, Wayne Shorter and Grover Washington, Jr.), pop (Roberta Flack, Paul Simon and Mariah Carey), R&B (Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan), hip hop (Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg), blues (Z.Z. Hill), new wave (Billy Idol) smooth jazz (Al Jarreau and Michael Franks) and opera (a collaboration with tenor Kenn Hicks). And, starting with David Sanborn's 1980 album Hideaway and its follow-up Voyeur (for which the alto sax giant won a Grammy performing Marcus' composition "All I Need is You"), Marcus not only left an indelible mark on Sanborn’s distinctive sound, he laid the often-copied blueprint for the coolest of contemporary jazz sounds. Kibler was also interested in funk and jazz music, and began collaborating with various musicians. His own recordings are perhaps best described as contemporary soul jazz with a strong hip hop feel. Kibler tours often with his own group, Project Logic, and has recorded or performed with Vernon Reid, John Mayer, Medeski Martin & Wood, Bob Belden, Jack Johnson, Chris Whitley, Uri Caine, Christian McBride and others. Recently, on April 6th 2006, DJ Logic sat in with Bob Weir's Ratdog, adding his style to the famous Grateful Dead song combo China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider. He is a founding member of The John Popper Project. His mentor of sorts was Vernon Reid, of which the two record and tour occasionally as the Yohimbe Brothers with various guests. Kibler has appeared on studio and live performances with Reid's solo projects, and Reid also did a guest solo on one track from Kibler's original band, Eye and I, which also featured D.K. Dyson and Melvin Gibbs, the latter of which has played on all of the DJ Logic solo releases as well. For more information, visit www.djlogic.com
