Welcome to the second annual Great Performers of Illinois, celebrating uniquely Illinois performing arts. From August 10 through 12, Chicago’s Millennium Park hosts over 50 musical performances including rock, jazz, blues, bluegrass, new-school poetics and square dancing, as well as kids' activities from puppets to storytelling to a renowned illusionist. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum from Springfield, Illinois, and five downstate museums, join in the fun with great activities. Design your own presidential china, draw underwater monsters from an Illinois legend and even decorate a turtle while learning an Illinois poem. Throughout the festivities, savor the best of Illinois wines. And sample our culinary treasures including Corn on the Cob, Carmel Corn Balls, Chicago-style Hot Dogs, and Parmesan and Truffle Popcorn with Black Pepper. Plan an Illinois getaway with the help of regional Convention and Visitor Bureaus on hand to provide insider tips on their unique destinations. The second annual Great Performers of Illinois is presented by the Illinois Arts Council, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Bureau of Tourism and the City of Chicago.
