Brooklyn-based doom quintet Bloody Panda is a strange animal. A hybrid of experimental atmospherics and cold, evil metal, they're equally at home opening for Soilent Green and playing with local avant-folk acts. Bloody Panda has been turning heads since 2003 with its live show - an intense, theatrical experience in which band members perform in executioner's hoods. However, the nucleus of this dirge is vocalist Yoshiko Ohara, whose deep and sorrowful chants belie her diminutive stature.

With a big-as-the-room persona, an ability to rock the doors off the most jaded of clubs, the heart to hold a room completely still with just his guitar, and a genius for arrangement, Bobby Bare, Jr. and his band of merry makers are one of the most unique bands around. They are adept at abandoning common sense in favor of laying themselves at the feet of a rambunctious, freewheeling, and unfettered and unhinged muse. Disarmingly charming, foolishly romantic and unapologetically thunderous when needed, The Longest Meow lays bare (sorry about that) Bobby's willingness to do anything to get the girl, even if we all know it'll somehow end badly. From dynamic atmospherics and psychedelic melancholy to pulsing T. Rex glam boogie and down and dirty southern ROCK, Bobby fearlessly wears his heart on his stained and sweaty shirtsleeve. http://www.bloodshotrecords.com/album/bobbybarejr/251Event submitted by Eventful.com on behalf of BSHQ.

Formed in rural Connecticut and starting out as a manic-paced skacore band, the group has since transformed into a much more experimental outfit that uses a framework of modern hardcore/metal to bring in such diverse influences as jazz, grind, ska, reggae, punk and anything else they can think of.

For the last decade, Potluck has built a well-deserved reputation as the premiere rap group in Humboldt County. They are one of the more promising young talents to emerge from Northern California's legendary, organic, independent, hip-hop scene. Combining an average joe sensibility along with syrupy west coast beats, clever samples, and witty rhymes Potluck's weed inspired song topics include everything from life and loves tribulations to neck-snapping battle raps. Celebrate the first day of fall with song, puppetry, saxophones and brass bands as Revels and the Charles River Conservancy present the 5th annual RiverSing: Bridging the Charles with Voice and Light. Perched atop the Weeks Footbridge, a massed chorus led by Revels music director George Emlen and giant puppets Oshun and Poseidon, will join a thousand voices along the riverbanks in songs of the season. A saxphone trio will converse on the water and the shore and strolling musicians will add additional atmosphere to this special autumnal equinox celebration. Picnics are encouraged. Gather at 5pm in Winthrop Square for some early entertainment, then march with us in our Grand Processional down to the River. The singing will last until approximately 7:30pm. RiverSing is FREE and open to the public. Please join us! Free!
