Keen will perform songs from his critically acclaimed, No. 1 Americana CD, What I Really Mean, including the hit title cut, “The Great Hank” – which was recognized as a stand-out track by Time Magazine on its 2005 “10 Songs for Late Summer” list – as well as fan favorites such as “Five Pound Bass,” “Merry Christmas From The Family” and “The Road Goes On Forever.” Keen has received extraordinary feedback from critics (Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, Billboard) and fans alike for What I Really Mean. The San Antonio Express-News raves in a 4-star review that “Melodically, sonically and lyrically, the album is Keen’s best – and that means it should be at the top of any music lover’s book.” Known for pushing boundaries, evoking emotions and inspiring deep thoughts with great songs not held down by one-genre limitations, the versatile Keen breathes life into songs with imagination and a certain playfulness that most contemporary country music lacks. Keen’s homemade batch of music (a fresh fusion of country, rock, folk and blues intertwined with a wry lyrical finesse shot through down home twang) has attracted a wide demographic of fans, resulting in superstar status in his native Texas and sold out shows from Maine to Mexico and from Washington, D.C. to Seattle, Washington over the past ten years. He has been a frequent guest on “Late Night with Conan O’ Brien” and “Austin City Limits,” and such artists as George Strait, Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith and Gillian Welch have recorded songs www.robertearlkeen.com

As Dallas adorns itself anew for the 21st Century, the Trinity River asks the presence of our keenest imagination as we attempt once again to honor that which was our source and our founding. The Trinity River project, one of the largest public works projects in the nation, challenges our resources and our will to design a park within a floodway that allows the mysteries of Nature to enter our experience of Downtown Dallas. This conference will feature the planners and designers from across the country who are working daily to see that the Trinity River Project is the finest plan possible. TCMGA Monthly Meeting

Where: Texas Discovery Gardens

Date: 2007-06-07 11:00:00

Type:

The term "monthly" comes from the practice of holding a monthly Meeting for Business, separate from the Meeting for Worship held once a week on Sunday (often called "First Day" for reasons discussed in the Testimony of Simplicity.) Similarly "quarterly" refers to the fact that members of a quarterly meeting gather four times a year. In some areas, including Britain and Ireland, there are local (preparative) meetings, which fall under the care of the larger Monthly meetings. A Monthly meeting is usually associated with a particular place of worship; in many cases, the associated meetinghouse has a distinctive style of architecture, reflecting the Testimony of Equality (benches are arranged in a roughly circular or three-quarter-square configuration, with no "privileged" place) and the Testimony of Simplicity (the interior of the meetinghouse is usually kept simply and unadorned.) Some meetinghouses in the United States are among the earliest remaining religious structures in the country, particularly in the Philadelphia area, but also in the Mid-Atlantic states and the Midwest generally.
