House music came from Chicago. But had it, just maybe, been born a few miles north - like, let's say, Canada - it could have sounded a lot different. There would still be synths, and four-to-the-floor beats, but the vibe would be poppier, somehow airier. It would sound a lot like the music that the Junior Boys make on their latest album So This is Goodbye. Junior Boys w/ Aqueduct and Youth Group

Laura Schandelmeier and Stephen Clapp are committed to creating works that reflect their individual and combined experience of contemporary dance, theater and culture. Clapp’s commitment to the intersection of art and social justice with Schandelmeier’s edgy exploration of dance as an art form have combined to forge a unique blend of artistry, cultural synthesis and contemporary commentary. Their new work Haunted explores local lore and ghost stories from the diverse community in which they live and work - Mount Rainer, Maryland, where some say the story behind The Exorcist took place. Performed to an original score by Clapp, Haunted will incorporate guest performers, community members and video footage from the weekly community workshops leading up to the premiere. TICKETS: $22 general admission; $17 members, students, teachers (PreK-12), professional artists & seniors; $8 for children 17 & under – unless noted otherwise.
