Hossein Omoumi Ensemble: Music and Song of Persia

The internationally renowned singer and ney (reed flute) player Hossein Omuomi returns to Town Hall with an ensemble of five master musicians for an all new program featuring musical expressions of the poetry of Rumi and other important poets, including contemporary works, as well as celebratory performance of popular music from the repertoire of classical Persian music. Appearing with Omoumi will be four noted artists -- percussionist Mehrdad Arabi, string players Amir Koushkani and Kourosh Taghavi, and Jessika Kenney, a former student of Omoumi who is gaining increased recognition for her Persian vocals.
