PENDLETON LIBRARY GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION The Pendleton Community Library is celebrating its grand opening by hosting an open house on Sunday, May 6th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The program will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:00 p.m. at the main entrance. After the ribbon is cut, everybody is welcome inside to visit the beautiful new library, and see all that it has to offer. There will be a caricature artist, storytime, a scavenger hunt, balloon animals and crafts for the kids. Adults can enjoy live music, "Historic Pendleton" displays and library tours. Refreshments will be served by several local eateries, and everyone can experience a "Taste of Pendleton." Take part in the festivities, and celebrate the library's grand opening on May 6th. July at the Eiteljorg Museum brings visit from American Girl®, free family fun ( Indianapolis ) – The nationally-renowned American Girl® doll collection will come to life for Indianapolis children Saturday, July 28, as Eiteljorg Museum presents “Welcome Josefina,” a celebration of the Spanish character and doll. “This event provides a great opportunity to bring the entire family out for an enjoyable and creative learning experience,” says Martha Hill , vice president of public programs and visitor services. Children are encouraged to visit the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a day of storytelling, games and activities inspired by Josefina. Hourly studio sessions will be facilitated by an Eiteljorg staff member or volunteer. Activities, designed for boys and girls age 5 and up with adult supervision, include leather stamping at 11 a.m., the traditional Mexican game of Loteria at 12 and 2 p.m., hair comb and mantilla making at 1 p.m. and a “Josefina through your eyes” interactive storytelling circle at 2 p.m. All sessions are free with museum admission except a $3 supply fee for the1 p.m. session. Children are not required to bring a doll. In fact, visitors can enter a raffle to win a Josefina doll during the event. For information and reservations, call (812)275-1350.
