The Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) is the world’s most recognized brand in professional videogame tournaments and has been a major force in the transformation of videogame competitions to a professional sport. Since its founding in 1997, the Dallas-based organization has hosted 60 international main events with a total attendance of over 300,000 gamers, has sanctioned over 500 international qualifiers and awarded more than $3 million in prizes. The Cyberathlete Amateur League (CAL), the CPL’s online amateur division, has 550,000 registered members and hosts year-round online tournaments for 60 game divisions. Mission Statement This CPL’s primary mission is to promote videogame competitions as a professional sport at a global scale.To accomplish this the CPL will continue to: Establish industry rules and guidelines to create a level and standardized playing field for all gamers. Promote the benefits and advantages of videogame competitions in society. Help unite the community of gamers and provide outlets for competitive gamers to nurture their skills. Provide opportunities for gamers to become sports stars through standardized videogame tournaments.
