Natural Breakdown, winner of jambands.com New Groove of the Month, plays a jam-filled mix of 60’s R&B, gospel, bluegrass, old-soul, straight up rock, get down funk, Latin Jazz, Afro-Cuban, world beat, and North Indian rhythms, with the spirit of the Dead thrown in for good measure. You can always expect this New Jersey based quartet to push the envelope with song improvisations, acapella jams, drum circles, chanting, meditation, live painting, and ever changing set lists. Their newest studio album, “Inside the One,” was mixed by Railroad Earth sound engineer Mike Partridge and mastered by RRE’s Johnny Grubb. Natural Breakdown uses their music to help: “... raise consciousness through sound and word. To bring crowds to intense peaks, through a winding river of sound. Like Nature breaks down rock over thousands of years, and how everything can be broken down to its base component, light: Natural Breakdown is a hopeful outlook and a call for change. We believe that the world is in need of some serious healing, and a strong vehicle for this shift is music. We want to break down the barriers between people and bridge the gap between performers/audience, to uncover that core experience of unity and oneness. We strive to bring people together for a unique and uplifting musical healing experience and hopefully spread the seeds of a brighter future in this time of great change.”

Diplomat features real stories, monologues, told by a local celebrity (check MySpace for an incomplete list of the hilarious people we've hosted) or musical guest (absolutely Amazing local bands and national touring acts). Those anecdotes provide inspiration for a world of absurd scenes, fully improvised by North Carolina's most aggressive improv comedians. REVIEW FROM THE INDEPENDENT "The combination of personal history and off-the-wall comedy makes for entertainment that is easily more engrossing than any movie or television show. By the end, the performers had me in tears." ** STARTING FEBRUARY 1 (2/1/08) MISTER DIPLOMAT DOORS OPEN AT 8PM, MUSIC STARTS At 830PM, COMEDY FROM DIPLOMAT & MUSICAL GUEST STARTS At 930PM. Me'Shell Ndegeocello's hybrid of funk and pop is challenging, spiritual and sophisticated. Although Me'Shell NdegeOcello scored a few hits early in her career, the singer/bassist opted to concentrate subsequently on more challenging material by exploring the politics of race and sex, among other topics. Me'Shell Ndegeocello's music is among the most sublime of the new school of American funk and soul. Her latest is 'The World Has Made Me The Man Of My Dreams.'

The Easy Star All-Stars are a collective family of some of the finest reggae musicians in the New York area. The band features a rotating cast drawn from a talented pool of players, meaning that every show has its own nuances and its own life. Collectively they are best known for their reggae/dub albums covering rock classics like Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' and songs by Radiohead. Dubconscious takes the universally loved sound of reggae and modifies it toward progressive goodness that bends the knees and broaden the listener's idea of modern music. Few current reggae acts bring such a wide spectrum of music lovers. The music is unoffensive and widely played in local bars and restaurants. They have opened and played alongside established greats such as Burning Spear, The Slip, The Wailers, Steel Pulse, Culture, The Meditations and Robert Walter's 20th Congress. In their hometown of Athens Georgia, Dubconscious is part of a large and growing community of amazing musicians that feed off of each others music, wisdom and friendship.

Though often referred to as half of the duo Azure Ray and 1/4 of Saddle Creek's Now It's Overhead, Maria Taylor's talents have seen her name attached to an impressive roster of musicians. She's popped up on tracks by Crooked Fingers, Bright Eyes and Moby. Maria doesn't scream her angst or snarl out her problems. She doesn't warble melismas with the glut of high-strung chart divas. With understated grace and aplomb, she writes the sort of classic, sad songs once favored by the first ladies of American songwriting.
