Build Boston after all these years Highlights from 2006 The 22nd annual Build Boston convention and tradeshow was a huge success. This year’s event boasted the highest number of participants to date with more than 15,500 registered attendees, up from last year’s record of 14,600. The exhibit hall was again packed with more than 300 exhibitors and the evening exhibit hall receptions were appreciated after full days of workshops. Workshops and forums on accessibility and green/sustainable design were quite popular and indicate critical needs and interests within the profession.

Upon first listen to Boston-based singer/songwriter, Jen Murdza, you won't believe the smoky, sultry voice you hear, really belongs to the petite blonde. Her original music combines rich vocals, infectious grooves and vivid lyrics. The final sound is an addictive, foot-stomping mixture of rhythmic pop, soul and jazz that will take you on a journey from genre-blending grooves to emotional ballads. Stevie Wonder defined soul music as being something that comes from deep within the artist, not specifically R&B music, but music that is deeply rooted in the heart and mind of the artist. Jen Kearney's music and talents are exactly that. Her lyrics trigger deep emotional shots sparked by a deep and passionate voice. Regardless of the medium or its rules, Jen Kearney has a firm grasp on the true principle of musicianship: that music is an ocean of culture expressed through sound and knows no boundaries.
