ROCK LEGEND JON ANDERSON TO RECREATE CLASSIC YES HITS WITH KIDS FROM SCHOOL OF ROCK ALL STARS Falls Church Concert to Announce the Launch of School of Rock in Northern Virginia THE SCHOOL OF ROCK ALL-STARS are currently touring with none other than John Roy "Jon" Anderson (born October 25, 1944), an English musician, best known as the lead singer of the progressive rock band Yes. This tour will receive national broadcast attention when it is featured April 17th, 2007 on CBS Television’s The Early Show with hosts Harry Smith, Hannah Storm and Julie Chen. The tour will culminate in its final performance on April 24th, 2007 at the State Theater in Falls Church, VA to announce the launch of the Paul Green School of Rock in Northern Virginia. The Paul Green School of Rock – an inspiration for the Jack Black full-length hit comedy, School of Rock - has been expanding rapidly across the nation this year. There are currently schools in 20 locations, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and soon to be Northern Virginia. As the original performance-based rock music school, the Paul Green School of Rock has been giving students 7-18 years of age the "gift of rock" since 1998. The school’s top students perform as THE SCHOOL OF ROCK ALL-STARS, consistently playing to packed houses and wild critical acclaim. Together and individually, they've been featured on national TV and radio shows including The CBS Evening News, MTV's Total Request Live and MTV News, and in Rolling Stone, Guitar Player, the New York Times, Washington Post, and countless others. THE SCHOOL OF ROCK ALL-STARS have played over 150 shows coast to coast, at venues such as B.B. King's in New York City and The Knitting Factory in Hollywood, and have been joined on stage by such legends as Alice Cooper and Eddie Vedder. The school plans to open in 5 locations across Northern Virginia over the next several years, beginning with Vienna, VA in May/June 2007. Jeff Bollettino, the Chief Music Officer for the School of Rock – Northern Virginia said “Our school offers a performance-based music program where we teach not just good musicianship, but how to cooperate with fellow musicians in making music and delivering a compelling show. The school accepts students with music skills ranging from no experience to highly experienced.” However the program isn’t for everyone, as Bollettino added, “Students have to answer to their teachers, and more importantly, to their peers in the band, for being ready with their part. This program requires hard work, and if the student isn’t ready to do the work, it’s not for them.” The PAUL GREEN SCHOOL OF ROCK MUSIC (www.schoolofrock.com) was founded in 1998 on one simple ideal: The love of rock music in all its myriad forms has the power to transform young lives. From that profound insight a true phenomenon has grown. In 2006, the PAUL GREEN SCHOOL OF ROCK MUSIC presented over 400 concerts nationwide, including performances in such prestigious venues as the House of Blues and the Knitting Factory. A respected force among professional musicians, the School of Rock boasts associations with a growing cadre of rock legends, including Ian Gillian of Deep Purple, Ann Wilson of Heart, Stewart Copeland of the Police, Jon Anderson of Yes, Marky Ramone of the Ramones, Adrian Belew and John Wetton of King Crimson, Alice Cooper and numerous members of Frank Zappa's classically grounded groups. A natural media magnet, the PAUL GREEN SCHOOL OF ROCK MUSIC has been featured in such electronic and print outlets as the CBS Evening News, CNN, MTV's Total Request Live, NPR's Fresh Air, Rolling Stone, Spin, Guitar Player, Mojo, the U.K. Guardian, New York Times, Washington Post, and countless others. The institution was the subject of the critically acclaimed A&E documentary Rock School, with a soundtrack produced by Grammy winner Phil Nicolo (Bob Dylan, the Roots, Train).
