This fast rising star returns to Ann Arbor with his wisecracking comedy and mischievous attitude. The Village Voice called McPeek a "sure fire hit with star potential." At thirty-two years of age, and weighing in at 320 pounds, comedian Kevin McPeek proudly claims that "I've been gaining ten pounds a year since the day I was born." The math may be fuzzy, but McPeek's gargantuosity is the heart and soul of his act. This may not seem like any kind of selling point, but I'm here to tell you that in the hands of this New York City-based comic (and former Monroe resident), it all adds up to some plus-size laughter. McPeek's a master at getting his crowd on his side, teaching them his signature asides ("buddy," "pal," "dude") and tossing good-natured insults when deserved. What's funnier is when McPeek expands his musings on phone sex, small cars, childhood, how men and women deal with being sore, and just how a 320-pound man manages in the shower when he drops the soap. Don’t miss a Comedy Showcase favorite this week on our stage. Showtimes: 8:00 & 10:30 pm Tickets: $8 in advance, $10 at the door Our Friday & Saturday 8pm shows are all non-smoking

Every Saturday morning, people from the Grex online community gather for a 75-90 minute walk, followed by lunch at a local eatery. Not all walkers are Grex users; we have regular attendance from friends, children, and pets. Sometimes complete strangers join us as well. Anybody is welcome. See the "Grexwalk Lunch" event for the location of this week's lunch. On every Saturday EXCEPT the first Saturday of each month, the walk is at Gallup Park. Meet by the parking lot near the Fuller Road entrance. On first Saturdays, we walk at Bird Hills Park.

George Roy Hill's adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's whimsical antiwar black comedy stars Michael Sacks as the placid Billy Pilgrim. He's become "unstuck in time," as the author describes him, or more prosaically, he's had a nervous breakdown as a result of a recurrence of the trauma of witnessing the horrific Allied firebombing of Dresden in 1945. The desultory narrative has Billy jumping from his war experience to his future on the planet Tralfamadore with the buxom Montana Wildhack (Valerie Perrine), then to an episode of shock therapy, then to an episode in his childhood, and then to his life as a relatively unhappy suburban optometrist. Throughout, the naive Billy remains a curious mixture of kindness and detachment, the best combination of qualities one could have, the author seems to imply, for surviving in a world of meaningless suffering. Rated R. 104 minutes. 1972.

Dave’s dynamic humor explores everything from raising kids and marriage to current events and even ear hair, putting a hilarious twist on all we hold ordinary. He challenges the audience to approach topics from a different angle and discover the things going on in the background of life rather than right out front. He has contributed material for ABC’s “Politically Incorrect,” and “The Zany Report” on the “Bob & Tom Show.” Traveling the country making people laugh is Dave at his best, and having tread upon stages for over ten years Dave is now considered a “Comedian-American.” Showtimes: 8:00 & 10:30pm Tickets: $10 in advance, $12 at the door
