Cartel

Where: House of Blues Disneyland

Date: 2007-09-04 19:00:00

Atlanta rockers Cartel gained significant promotional boosts from Yahoo!, MySpace, AOL, AbsolutePunk.net and PureVolume.net, leading to their successful single 'Honestly,' which in turn earned them more exposure via their music video on MTVU and Fuse. They also made the lineup on the 2006 VANS Warped Tour. No wonder Alternative Press called Cartel "a band you need to know." Quietdrive is all about pop hooks, raw rock thrills, open-hearted melodies, faith, hope and love. Against a musical backdrop that draws as much from Elton John and Nirvana as from Zeppelin and Matthew Sweet, Quietdrive tackles politics of the heart, sifting through the wreckage of old relationships and holding out hope for the one that got away. The Boston-area band Boys Like Girls has been able to develop a devout following by focusing on making lasting connections with its fans. "I like to listen to music that makes me feel a certain way--either it reminds me of something important that happened or a certain time in my life," says Boys Like Girls frontman Martin Johnson. "If kids are feeling that way about our songs, I couldn't ask for anything more." Cobra Starship features Johnny Depp, Dave Grohl, Ron Jeremy and Mayor McCheese.

The good reverend takes the rockabilly sound and kick starts it with an infusion of punk attitude. With his invention, the Guit-steel (a standard six-string electric guitar and eight-string non-pedal steel, combined into one instrument) and top-notch vocals, Junior Brown is one of the most original and rewarding performers in country music. Melding the locomotive rhythm of traditional bluegrass with the intensity of Mississippi roadhouse blues, this band has created a unique, hybrid sound of mostly original material. The band regularly tops the lists of Nashville's alt-weekly picks and has been named one of Nashville's Best Live Shows year after year.
