Kevin McPeek

Where: Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase

Date: 2007-05-05 20:00:00

Type:

This fast rising star returns to Ann Arbor with his wisecracking comedy and mischievous attitude. The Village Voice called McPeek a "sure fire hit with star potential." At thirty-two years of age, and weighing in at 320 pounds, comedian Kevin McPeek proudly claims that "I've been gaining ten pounds a year since the day I was born." The math may be fuzzy, but McPeek's gargantuosity is the heart and soul of his act. This may not seem like any kind of selling point, but I'm here to tell you that in the hands of this New York City-based comic (and former Monroe resident), it all adds up to some plus-size laughter. McPeek's a master at getting his crowd on his side, teaching them his signature asides ("buddy," "pal," "dude") and tossing good-natured insults when deserved. What's funnier is when McPeek expands his musings on phone sex, small cars, childhood, how men and women deal with being sore, and just how a 320-pound man manages in the shower when he drops the soap. Don’t miss a Comedy Showcase favorite this week on our stage. Showtimes: 8:00 & 10:30 pm Tickets: $8 in advance, $10 at the door Our Friday & Saturday 8pm shows are all non-smoking

Stunt Johnson Theater

Where: Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase

Date: 2007-10-11 20:00:00

Type:

It's the highly anticipated return of this irreverent comedy troupe. They've been described as one part Monty Python, one part Three Stooges, and the rest just plain lunacy. Their show is a combination of skits and parodies, spoofs and silly fun. They've appeared on "America's Funniest People" and are regular performers in Las Vegas. It's time to stash the politically correct badge, buckle up, and have some fun this weekend with the Comedy Showcase's favorite funny boys. Showtime: 8:00 pm Tickets: $5 in advance, $7 at the door THURSDAY DRINK SPECIALS!

Josh Sneed

Where: Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase

Date: 2008-08-15 20:00:00

Type:

Josh Sneed is quickly making his mark as one of the top young comics in the business, and for the purpose of this bio, has become skilled in the art of writing in the third person. After quitting a comfy day job working for Procter & Gamble, he’s made excellent strides in following his passion for making people laugh. He’s opened for such acts as Dave Chappelle, Dane Cook, and Lewis Black. Most recently, Josh finished 2nd out of 100 of Comedy Central’s top comedians in the Annual Stand-up Showdown, earning him a deal to record a new album on Comedy Central Records. In 2006, Josh filmed a 30-minute special, “Comedy Central Presents: Josh Sneed” that debuted in March 2007 and is currently re-airing. In November of 2006, Josh placed 6th in the Sierra Mist/MySpace Stand-up or Sit Down Challenge out of over 2,000 entrants. Finishing high in competitions is nothing new to Josh. In 4th grade he earned a blue ribbon for throwing a softball through a tire. In 2004, he performed at the Just For Laugh's Montreal Comedy Festival in the "New Faces of Comedy" group, one of the highest honors that a comedian at his level can achieve. Josh has also be seen performing in large venue theaters across the country as an opening act for the various members of "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour", and has made several appearances on "The Bob & Tom Show”.
