These are, more or less, all terms that New Zealand band The Brunettes have been denying and simultaneously inviting their entire career. Jonathan and Heather met when their respective bands played a show together. They began creating boy/girl melodrama pop inspired by 70s New York punk and 60s girl groups but created in an Auckland scene of opiate-infused garage rock 'n' roll.
