Big D and the Kids Table

Where: Soma

Boston's Big D and The Kids Table debuted their fast paced style of ska-punk in 1995. But, like most ska bands, the line-up revolved between their 1997 debut, 'Live,' EP and their 1998 split with Drexel. They released 'Good Luck' in 2000. Whole Wheat Bread is from Duval County, Jacksonville, Florida. Like their forefathers Bad Brains, WWB is doing their part to redefine punk for a whole new generation. Their sound is influenced by both punk (i.e. Rancid) and crunk (i.e. Lil Jon).

The Black Dahlia Murder

Where: Soma

Date: 2008-01-30 19:00:00

Type:

Detroit's The Black Dahlia Murder actually sound like they should live in Scandinavia, from whence originates much of the frenetic brand of death and black metal that inspires them. Formed in 2001, the group followed their six-song 'What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse' demo with the four-track 'A Cold-Blooded Epitaph E.P.,' which was released on their own Lovelost Records. With a number of acclaimed concerts appearances like the Milwaukee Metal Fest already under their belts, the group then signed with Metal Blade in 2003 and were soon recording their debut album 'Unhallowed.' The Canadian sextet Three Inches of Blood evokes a throwback to heavy metal's youthful 1980s heyday. The band's Iron Maiden-like galloping riffs and solos are speeded up to thrash metal tempos, topped with "Dungeons & Dragons" styled lyrics and titles such as 'Destroy the Orcs' and 'Ride Darkhorse, Ride.' Their latest is 'Advance and Vanquish.' Hate Eternal features Erik Rutan from Ripping Corpse and Morbid Angel.
