Mary Lance - "Blue Alchemy: Stories of Indigo" Documentary filmmaker Mary Lance will screen excerpts from the work-in-progress of her new film "Blue Alchemy: Stories of Indigo", exploring the art and process of making indigo dye with artists from around the world. She will discuss her recent trip to Bangladesh and India, where she filmed women in Bangladesh making the indigo dyestuff, which helps support their community economically. Carol Hoy - "Taking Refuge" Tibetan Buddhist meditation teacher and artist Carol Hoy will give a talk, "Taking Refuge", inspired by her life and art practice. Hoy's life journey has led her to many sacred spaces in Nepal and Tibet. She will speak on compassion and the path of awakening through art making. These artists talks are in conjunction with "Giving Shelter", an invitational exhibition of fifty artists from across the U.S. and beyond, exploring the themes of shelter, refuge and sacred space on display through March 29th, 2008 at 516 ARTS. This event is FREE.

Indiana's Murder by Death layers the vocal sounds of an old saloon with the haunting strings of an Hungarian folk dance and the hard driving rhythms of pure rock n' roll, producing what Stuff magazine has called "lush, orchestrated songs," somehow simultaneously reminiscent of Johnny Cash and Radiohead. Gasoline Heart is a band from Winter Park, Florida that plays alternative and garage rock.
