The Gossip's bluesy garage punk boasts a wailing front-woman who routinely hits herself on the backside and offers up more soul than one is inclined to expect from a band of this genre. The punky allgal dance band Erase Errata have been busy since releasing their last album, 'At Crystal Palace,' & have since opened shows with the Ex, The Fall, Le Tigre & Sonic Youth among others. Dearly beloved, they remain one of the musical underground's most cherished ensembles. OM features ex-members of Sleep. Guitarist Jack Rose developed his distinctive guitar playing style with regarded free folk ensemble Pelt and he has since gone on to establish himself as a regarded solo performer as well. He has four albums proper to his credit, the latest of which, 'Kensington Blues,' find him composing and playing at the very height of his creative powers. The Grails hail from Portland, Oregon.

Harvard Book Store is pleased to present BEN KARLIN, the Emmy Award-winning former executive producer of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, who in his new book has assembled a lineup of male celebrities, writers, and public figures who have one thing in common: they’ve all been dumped Tickets for this event are $5 and may be purchased STARTING FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH at Harvard Book Store or over the phone with a credit card (617-661-1515). Please note that your $5 ticket may be redeemed for $5 off a single item at the event or at Harvard Book Store for one month following the event. See description for ticket information. As a driving force behind The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Needham-born Ben Karlin pretty much saved the world, or at least the world of satire. Now he's out to help you with your miserable dating life by collecting essays from people like Stephen Colbert, Patton Oswalt and David Wain in an advice book called Things I've Learned From Women Who've Dumped Me. Well, sort of. "If this is an advice book, then I readily submit it for the title of Worse Advice Book Ever," he writes in an email. "This book is conceived and executed purely to entertain. That includes laughter, chortling, chuckling, giggling and in three cases, knowingly sighing in mirth. Any positive effect beyond that is purely accidental, though I will happily take credit for it and even go so far as to obnoxiously label it 'subtext.'" Karlin will be in town to share his experiences and—if there's time—touch some hearts and minds. "If my mistakes aren't fertile ground for comedy, then really, what was the point in making them in the first place?" he continues. "I mean, could you imagine living your life, having experience and simply using it to inform your future behavior? What a waste." BEN KARLIN FRI. 2.29 BRATTLE THEATRE 40 BRATTLE ST. HARVARD SQ.
