The David Crowder Band are one of the early groups that broke as the revolution of worship music spread throughout the world. With amazing lyrical integrity, compelling artistic expression and an intimate cry to God through his unique voice, Phil Wickham combines a west coast ethic that channels the pop sensibilities of Coldplay with the emotive lyrics of singer songwriters like John Mayer. This appealing blend of driving up-tempo pop rock along with intimate worshipful moments broadcasts a rare gem that shines in all facets.

Join the Jewish Study Center as we kick off the semester and celebrate the publication of Arguing with the Storm: Stories by Yiddish Women Writers. We will enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and wine, and listen to a talk by Rhea Tregebov, editor of the anthology, who facilitated the creation of the collection. Adding to our dialogue will be Max Ticktin, Associate Director of the George Washington University Judaic Studies Program, and Miriam Isaacs, Visiting Associate Professor of Yiddish at the University of Maryland/College Park. Arguing with the Storm offers 14 newly translated stories and memoir excerpts published in Yiddish from the 1940s through the 1990s. Books will be available for purchase and signing. This event is sponsored by The Reuben/Rifkin Jewish Women Writers Series, a joint project of the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute and The Feminist Press. Co-sponsors are Yiddish of Greater Washington, The Embassy of Canada, and the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue. The Book Launch Party is part of the Jewish Study Center’s Spring Session, May 5 – July 2.
