The brain child of Boston comic Jim McCue, The Boston International Comedy & Movie Festival began back in 2000, as a way to showcase stand-up comedy talent to bigger audiences and the entertainment industry. Given the long line of successful comedians who got their start in Boston: Jay Leno, Stephen Wright, Janeane Garafalo, Dennis Leary (to name a few) , Boston seemed to be a natural fit for such a festival. The audience agreed, and the event has grown every year! In addition to the traditional stand-up comedy routines, improv, sketch comedy, and one-person theatre shows have been added to the line up – as well as the newly expanded movie portion of this festival. Tonight you will see some of the best of Detroit comics vying for an invitation to the Big event in Boston. C’mon out and cheer for your favorite D-Town and A2 jokester. Every Saturday morning, people from the Grex online community gather for a 75-90 minute walk, followed by lunch at a local eatery. Not all walkers are Grex users; we have regular attendance from friends, children, and pets. Sometimes complete strangers join us as well. Anybody is welcome. See the "Grexwalk Lunch" event for the location of this week's lunch. On every Saturday EXCEPT the first Saturday of each month, the walk is at Gallup Park. Meet by the parking lot near the Fuller Road entrance. On first Saturdays, we walk at Bird Hills Park.
