Venus Mission was nominated for three 2003 Cincinnati Enquirer Cammy Awards, and was listed in the alternative press as having one of the top local releases of 2005 and 2002. Venus Mission has opened for international acts such as British folk-rock legends Lindisfarne and has headlined at National Public Radio's annual conference. Venus Mission's second album "Love Me Back Alive" was released in October 2005 and finds the band's nexus, Andrea Rosenthal, seeking to shed her singer-songwriter skin. To help solidify her foray into a more edgy sound, she enlisted the help of co-writers Ric Hordinski (c/o Monk) and experimental guitarist Louis Larson (f/o Kaillip, c/o Three Legged Stella) for 3 of the album's 8 songs. $3 cover.

The Collect is a brand new city-wide art project presented by ArtWorks and the Rohs Street Café. Writer, artist, and Australian native Mandy Smith created this innovative project. The Collect invites the public to collect small broken or discarded items from the streets of Cincinnati. These items will be transformed into works of art by local artists. Six local coffee shops will serve as collection centers for the community’s found items. “The Collect is a way for Cincinnati residents to come together and create a public expression of beauty in our City,” said Smith. “This is a fun opportunity to celebrate Cincinnati and to unite the community and all of its collected junk in a funky art event.” “ArtWorks is really excited to be a part of this project,” said Colleen Stanton, Director of Programs at ArtWorks. “We're engaging the community in a brand new city wide art project with the added benefit of cleaning up the streets of our city." How The Collect works: April–May 2007: The public collects small, discarded items from the streets and sidewalks of Cincinnati. (Visit the Web, thecollectcincinnati.com for guidelines on what kind of items The Collect is looking for and where to drop them off.) Local artists will will transform all collected items into works of art! The pieces will go on display at Rohs Street Cafe on September 11th and then auctioned on October 11th to raise money for ArtWorks' Summer Program for Greater Cincinnati Youth.
