Join us for the world premiere of Andrew Bird’s very first video, “Imitosis”, directed by stop-motion delight Britta Johnson and produced by Xan Aranda. Proceeds toward the Chicago Short Film Brigade’s annual award fund and ‘08 operational budget. Drawing on the color palettes and photographic style of science books from the late 1960s, this gorgeous, twitchy, twirling piece - part science-film, part dream-world - also captures Andrew’s signature multi-instrumental performance. Evening features a shorter-than-normal-Brigade program with piano action from Abraham Levitan, a snazzy visual program, plus a DJ dance party (afro-pop with Josh Abrams & Nathaniel Braddock). Helmet returns after a seven year absence, suiting up for a new album called 'Size Matters' and a tour featuring founding member/frontman Page Hamilton. Much of the original lineup are gone but the backing group features guitarist Chris Traynor, former White Zombie drummer John Tempesta and former Anthrax bassist Frank Bello. Helmet rose to fame on the strength of its 1992 debut, 'Meantime,' plus hits with the soundtrack cuts 'Just Another Victim' from the film 'Judgment Night' that paired the group with hip-hop act House of Pain -- and 'Milquetoast' from the soundtrack to 1994's 'The Crow.' Hailing from Chicago, Bible of the Devil is a four-piece rock and roll metal assault squad specializing in anthemic, hell-raising anthems evoking images of human dementia, conquest, urban debauchery and violence. Dan Sartain plays alternative punk, garage rock, punk and indie rock.
