Where: Flat Top Johnny's

Date: 2007-05-30 18:00:00

Type:

Produced by the Boston Chapter of the American Marketing Association Competitive advantage comes down to differentiating one business over another. It might be a new product, better service, being easier to work with, offering a longer warranty, or any number of aspects of a business that can set them apart. But where does competitive advantage come from? Can companies really set themselves apart, or is it just hype? Is competitive advantage truly sustainable, or at the speed of business today, is it gone before your customers even know you had it? And this just in...the Boston Marketing Club is expanding to include Portsmouth, NH! The AMA Boston Marketing Club is a fresh approach to networking. Meet some new people, discuss hot-topics and participate in real-time opinion polling led by “the CONNECTORS*.” Check out a previous event. If you’re tired of the old routine (get a nametag, grab a drink, shake some hands and drop a few business cards), then get ready for something new. We’ve found a better way to network! Free billiards and appetizers / cash bar. Yes - I will attend or call 781-647-7555 to register. Price: $10 for AMA members. $30 for non-members. We hope to see you there!

Nomadic Wax presents: Chosan (Sierra Leone), ELI EFI and Laylo (Brazil/Dominican Republic), Foundation Movement (Puerto Rico/Liberia), Zuluboy (South Africa) DJ Boo (Philippines) an accomplished group of percussionists including Ernesto Abreau (Antibalas/Ya Esta), Chauncey Yearwood (The Pimps of Joytime/Escort), and Nomadic Wax founder Ben Herson (Nomadic Wax/Escort/Subatomic Sound System). $10 in adv / $12 door from afropo.org: http://www.afropop.org/news_flash.php?ID=447 This is the first Global Underground Hip Hop tour presented by Nomadic Wax. Nomadic Wax is a record label and production company dedicated to African Hip Hop. This tour features artists from many countries including Sierra Leone, Brazil, Liberia, and South Africa. Another exciting feature of the tour is a live group of percussionists. This is sure to be a night of eclectic styles and sounds that you won’t want to miss! Artists on the tour include Chosan, an international hip hop artist hailing from Sierra Leone. He was a guest artist on Kanye West’s single, ‘Diamonds of Sierra Leone’. Chosan’s debut album “The Beautiful Side of Misery” expresses his take on hip hop, which is that “Hip-Hop culture is more than just guns, girls, and glamorous lifestyles.” ELI EFI and DJ Laylo are a politically oriented group who use their music to enact positive change in their native Brazil. They see hip hop in Brazil as “the outcry of the excluded.” Their song ‘Marcha Soldado’ was part of the recent National Geographic Global Hip-Hop Georemixes CD compilation. The other two acts are Foundation Movement from Boston and Zuluboy from Johannesburg. Foundation Movement puts on a tremendous live show and their fan base extends from Tanzania to Puerto Rico. Zuluboy accomplished the feat of releasing a major album completely in Zulu. The beats of Zuluboy come from a variety of sources such as traditional gospel and field recordings of Zulu groups. The live percussion makes this tour unique from other hip hop shows. Ben Herson, founder of Nomadic Wax, says that the live percussion creates a massive amount of energy. “It’s just one big party from start to finish.” "the United Nations of Hip Hop" http://globalunderground-boston.eventbrite.com/?discount=afropoppromo
