William Yang - Shadows - Boston Premiere!

Where: Institute of Contemporary Art

Date: 2008-03-22 20:00:00

Type:

Taking the deceptively simple format of a slide show, Yang spins an engrossing web of stories, from the personal to the political, spanning two continents in an emotionally searing performance. Understated, peppered with wry humor, and visually striking, Shadows is a textured pilgrimage of global proportions and features original vocal and instrumental music by Colin Offord. Yang, third generation Chinese-Australian, has a history both in theater and photography. In 1989, Yang began performing monologues with slide projection, a form of performance theater that has since become his favorite way of showing his work. Yang has toured extensively in Australia, Europe, Asia and North America, and he has presented more than 20 exhibitions of photography worldwide. Tickets $28 reserved seating; $25 members, students, and seniors. Co-presented with CRASHarts, a division of World Music.
