Anger: Making It Work For You

Where: Glasscock School of Continuing Studies at Rice University

Date: 2007-09-18 14:00:00

Type:

Although it is often experienced as a negative and hurtful emotion, anger is basic to the human experience. Anger is essential to our survival, and without it we can easily lose our sense of what we want or need to be happy and safe. But anger can also cause pain and incite violence. Indeed, the ability to recognize and direct anger, without becoming aggressive, is vital to the success of all relationships. Clinical psychologist Roberta Diddel will explore the nature of anger and discuss concepts and techniques for recognizing and using feelings of anger productively, making it work for and not against us. Eight Tuesdays, September 18-November 6, 2007, 2:00-3:30 p.m. Registration and fee information available on GSCS Web site.

Website Design Mayhem

Where: Ziggy's Healthy Grill

Date: 2007-09-26 18:30:00

Type:

2 HOURS, 20 WEB SITES. That is the goal. I'm giving everybody an extra couple weeks this time so that you will be good and ready for the biggest event for any web group this year! This event will allow the first twenty people with website ideas to built the first part of their site. We will need web ideas, coders, designers, business people, copy writers, computers and most of all brave souls! This will be a frantic race to pump out 20 actual sites that actually work. There will be some prework for those who want to have their site built, but everything else will be on the spot. At the minimum, everybody should be able to walk out with a home page and a Spank'n new system. This will also be a smack down of design methods, where advocates of Joomla, Drupal and DotNetNuke get to strut their stuff. And lets not forget about Dreamweaver and the Devil child using HTML in Notepad. The only way to accomplish this is a systematic approach I have been developing for the past couple years. Sad to say, it is only as good as the people who use it. To submit your website idea please use http://tinyurl.com/2t6naw or contact Eric Shafer @ 713-882-0353. So, the gauntlet is down, your cheek has been slapped and the trash talk is about to begin. Get your ideas ready and your typing fingers set. YOU are going to make history.

Ministry

Where: Verizon Wireless Theater

Date: 2008-04-18 20:00:00

Type:

Industrial pioneers Ministry hit the road for what will be their last world tour in support their final studio release, 'The Last Sucker.' Al Jourgensen and Paul Barker formed Ministry in 1979 as a post-punk dance unit playing fast, aggressive music in the style of British New Wavers Wire, Killing Joke and the Slits. Over the course of eleven albums and over a dozen tours, Jourgensen, Barker and the rest of the band have left scars on musical genres ranging from dance to alternative to industrial to metal. Ministry continued to write new chapters in the handbook of sonic devastation with the 2003 album 'Animositisomina,' 2004's 'Houses of the Mole' and 2006' 'Rio Grande Blood.' Al Jourgensen has also recorded and performed under other such side project names as Revolting Cocks and 1000 Homo DJ's. Meshuggah was formed in 1987 in Umea, Sweden.
