Carnelle Scott's only dream is to win the local beauty contest and gain acceptance from her small Southern town. But will tap-dancing, roman candles, and a misbehaving hoop skirt really help her do the trick? One of Beth Henley's most heartwarming and hilarious plays. "A comic volcano of a play, populated by offbeat, but vital, larger-than-life characters." - The Hollywood Reporter "This explosively funny play again demonstrates the author's unique gift for finding humor and wisdom in the zany activities of small-town life." - New York Times Shows run through May 31st. Free! Last year, SSLYB, the indie-pop quartet from Springfield released its debut full-length album, "Broom." With its memorable, borderline twee melodies, "Broom" swept over bloggers and eventually caught the ears of Spin magazine editors, who declared SSLYBY a likely successor of The Shins. Roaring out of the Ozarks with a bottle in one hand and a bible in the other, Ha Ha Tonka mix sanctified four-part harmonies and blistering rock, carving out songs that evoke the dichotomies that define their home. Oceans is an exciting and inspiring post-rock/indie pop band from Urbana, IL that will gather listeners of all kinds this night at the terrace.
