Rossini’s “La Boutique Fantasque” will enchant children of all ages when a toy shop comes to life! This classic children's ballet is filled with wonderfully costumed dolls and dancing toys with choreography by Director Betsy Hausburg to live music from the Livermore-Amador Symphony. For those who love romance (with a little swashbuckling thrown in!) we present Act I of Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” from fencing to the balcony scene! And rounding out our production is a new premiere of “Chaconne” with music by Vitali showcasing the exceptional partnering skills of five couples choreographed by VDT’s Partnering Instructor Doug Johnson. Valley Dance Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit dance company and school. The Valley Concert Chorale, the Tri-Valley's premier chorus, in collaboration with the Cantabella Children's Chorus and San Francisco Concert Chorale, will perform Carl Orff's ever-popular and dramatic choral masterpiece Carmina Burana on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 8 p.m. at the new Bankhead Theater. The theater is located at 2400 First Street in downtown Livermore. Accompanied by two pianos, percussion, and professional soloists, Carmina Burana is perhaps the most performed choral work throughout the world. "We are very excited to be performing this incredible music as part of the Bankhead Theater's inaugural season," says John Emory Bush, Artistic Director of the Valley Concert Chorale and San Francisco Concert Chorale. "This is music that will move your soul and excite your spirit. Our 2006 performance of Carmina received a standing ovation from a sold-out audience. We hope to do the same this year." Also performing will be the Chorale's own accompanist Daniel Glover, an internationally known concert pianist. He will open the evening with piano selections by Franz Liszt. Valley Dance Theatre Announces Summer Fun for Ages 3-9 Peter and the Wolf and Carnival of the Animals Valley Dance Theatre will host two summer ballet camps for children, Peter & The Wolf and Carnival of the Animals. Based in Livermore, Calif., Valley Dance Theatre offers classical ballet and modern dance instruction for all ages, The first camp, Peter & The Wolf, will run from July 7-July 11, 2008. Children ages three to six years will meet from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. Boys and girls ages six to nine years will meet from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Sessions will include dance instruction, choreography, staging and performance. The camp will culminate in a performance and reception for family and friends. The second camp, Carnival of the Animals, will run from July 28-August 1, 2008. Children ages three to six years will meet from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. Boys and girls ages six to nine years will meet from 12:30-3:30 p.m. This camp will also include dance instruction, choreography, staging and performance and will culminate in a performance and reception. Camp fees are $150 for one camp and $275 for both camps. A 5% family discount is available for each additional child.
